About me
I trained at the Academy of Natural Health in London’s Covent Garden with Anja Saunders in 2004. I continue to develop my skills with current CPD courses, always looking to deepen my knowledge and skills. Most recently I attended dissection workshops at Kings College London where I could explore in great detail anatomical structures and muscle tissues. I am interested in further developing my skills when working with those who have suffered trauma.
I am a mother of three. My eldest has nearly flown the nest, but it was during my pregnancy with her that I found a deeper connection with myself through massage. I started to become fascinated by how our bodies hold on to and let go of tension. I believe that when receiving massage, a trust relationship needs to be established between giver and receiver. Receiving massage can be a learning process at first and takes a certain amount of curiosity about our selves but through this anyone can find a deeper connection with themselves.
Before massage, I graduated from Dartington College of Arts in 1999 with a BA Honours degree in Music.
Studying Contemporary classical music, world music, minimalism and free improvisation gave me a creative and artistic foundation. Understanding presence as a performer and learning to listen are all aspects that I bring into my massage work.
During my massage training, dance, movement and contact improvisation gave me a good understanding of body mechanics and how to move and tune into others. Practicing Yoga and playing reed instruments gave me a foundation in stretching and efficient breathing – all things that keep me strong and grounded as a massage therapist.
I have been a certified Holistic Massage Therapist since 2007. I am registered with the Massage Training Institute and I am fully insured. Since then, I have undergone additional training in Deep Tissue, Thai Yoga Massage, Hot Stones and Counselling.
I love that I have found this path and I strive to fulfil the need for human connection.
